Friday Finds: The Best of Etsy Week 1

What are your plans for the weekend? Joe and I are hoping to sleep in this weekend. Joe's also planning to make BBQ pizza! Not pizza with BBQ toppings, but literally a pizza cooked on the BBQ. Lets see how it turns out!

I've decided that in celebration of my love of Etsy craft-makers, I would start a segment featuring my favorite items from the week. And, I guess I'll start off with a ring that made me literally think "Oooooo." I love with this sapphire engagement ring by Sunday Owl. It's rustic and romantic, and would be perfect if your love is the vintage type.

New Chapter

It's strange how it doesn't feel strange starting this new chapter in my life.

On August 13th of last month, surrounded by all of our loved ones, I married my college sweetheart, one of the most wonderful people I have ever had in my life, Joe Proudman. Our wedding was medium-sized at a beautiful barn location in a small Central Valley town in California called Lemoore.

The following our some of our wedding photographs taken by two of our friends, Michelle Gatchet and Stefan Armijo.

Since then, we have packed up as many of our belongings into Joe's Jeep and headed to our new home away from home, South Lake Tahoe, where Joe has begun working at theTahoe Daily Tribune as their new sports editor.

We both love the idea of living in a tourist drawn location, seeping in the benefits of living in such a beautiful location year round.

We are excited to see what adventures the future has in store for us and documenting those adventures.

I also look forward to having more time to work on my blog and all my photography as ZoiShop, my Etsy Shop, starts to grow.

Much love, loves.

Wedding Inspirations

I'm getting married in a month and a half! And I finally feel like everything is coming together. We've made several changes, added some elements, changed the style to have a bit more vintage feel. We'll be using antique silver tea pitchers for our centerpieces with roses interspersed with some kind of wildflower in-between, as well as vintage books. We'll also be adding strings with photographs of us and our favorite photos we've taken throughout or lives for decorations, like is shown in the last image. I'm excited to see how everything comes out the day of!

I have my first dress fitting on Saturday, and I'm excited. A little scared too. I think one of my biggest fears is that the dress doesn't fit me! Ah! I hope the pizza and chocolate doesn't get me.

Cutest Save the Date Idea

How crazy cute is this save the date idea? I've got to admit, after watching the video I'm wishing we would have been more creative with ours!

Wedding Ideas: Tree Guest Book

I didn't really like the idea of having just an average guest book at my wedding. It seemed like something Joe and I would never look at after the first time of going through it. I was lucky enough to run into this amazing wedding tree guest book idea online, and I decided to draw one myself for us. I figured it should come out decently since trees are one of the few things I excel at drawing, and we could hang it up as well decor after the wedding. I could not be more stoked about how it came out!

I'm still trying to figure out what color paint to get for the fingerprints, since our home decor colors will be red, black, white, and yellow, but this is how it will ultimately look:

I can't wait to find a matching frame for it, and to hang it up in our home!

Wedding Ideas: Mason Jars

Joe and I found the perfect way to add a little spunk to our outdoor barn wedding in August. We're planning on using mason jars as our drinking glasses for guests. A great way for everyone to enjoy some fresh lemonade on a sure to be smoldering summer day in the central valley!

Although these are a bit expensive to purchase, from $65 to $200 for 100 jars depending the style, we can sell them after the wedding and make some of that money back.

A Succulent Centerpiece Idea

Ello loves! What have you been up to this weekend?

I've been dealing with an extremely frustrating situation: trying to figure out affordable centerpieces for my wedding reception that can be self-made. There are a considerable amount of options, which may very well be the problem. The flowers I'm considering are whole orchid plants, sunflowers or succulents. Maybe even a combination of all three. As well as glass vases versus clay planters.

This week I decided to try out an idea that would allow my wedding party and I to make super affordable succulent centerpieces at about $30 a table.

The amount of glass vases needed for my first centerpiece idea is more expensive than I had first anticipated, so it occurred to me that clay planters would be a good alternative. However, I wasn't sure if I liked their orange tint for the wedding or how inexpensive they can look. But then I realized I could paint the clay planters white to make them look a little more expensive. I already had four succulents I had bought at Orchard Supply about a month ago and some leftover paint, so I just needed to get the clay pots. I went to Michaels, which I love, and bought five of them in a variety of sizes and a base for under $10.

It took me about three hours (most of which was spent watching Roseanne while I waited for the paint to dry) to make the entire set.

I am not 100 percent sure if this is the idea I'm going with, it would probably need to be a little larger and perhaps include some moss for a more outdoorsy feel, but I really loved how clean and fresh the centerpiece looks, especially for the price.
