Look of the Week: Teal Willow Dress

I love this outfit from the ready to wear Fall 2011 Willow Urban Rider collection. It's a short teal slip dress under a netting overlay that is sure to turn heads anywhere. It's the perfect inspiration for a holiday party dress or a New Years Eve dress.

A Look Back At My Featured Sellers, And A Move Forward

It has been over six months since I began my featured sellers segment on my blog, which has become my favorite and most successful addition. It has given me a chance to interview my favorite handmade artisans on the web and share a little piece of them with my readers. And it never ceases to amaze me how different every artisan is, and how inspirational they can each be in their own way.

As I move forward with this segment, my newest featured sellers will also be offering promo codes to my readers, so be on the lookout for the first of these next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, revisit some of the features from earlier this year by clicking the images below.

Sweet Finds: Edibles

Do you love sweets? I am a sweets fiend. I love sugar and cake and cookies and lollipops, and anything that you need milk to wash down. Joe and I bought marshmallows for a mini Thanksgiving dinner we're doing on Sunday and since I've been fighting myself to not give in to my marshmallow cravings and rip that bag open I thought that an edibles segment of Sweet Finds would be appropriate today.

The following are some of my favorite edible finds on Etsy.com. Don't all of them look delicious? Yum. Yum.

Apricot jalapeno organic jelly - Mirasol Farm - $8.25 USD

Cheesecake fudge - Jewel of the Lion - $19.00 USD

Raspberry linzer cookies - Esther Aguirre - $14.50 USD

White velvet buttercream cookie - Tookies - $28 USD

Marshmallows, brownies, biscotti - Whimsy and Spice - $48 USD

Lemon sugary lollipops - The Groovy Baker - $10 USD

Cherry walnut nougat - Have It Confections - $14 USD

What do you have a sweet tooth for?

Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Before this year when I thought of Black Friday and Cyber Monday I automatically thought of waking up ridiculously early to go stand in line not only to enter stores but to pay for products. This year, I have a new perspective. Although I honestly do plan on doing some much needed clothes shopping shopping and going through some part of my list of Christmas present list at common retailers, I also plan on doing small business shopping through Etsy.com, where the majority of sellers including myself will have great deals and discounts on handmade artisan goods including jewelry, knitwear, vintage items, and photography. And I love the idea of supporting small businesses like myself.

This is my first year going through Black Friday and Cyber Monday on Etsy and I'm offering a variety of deals and promo codes throughout my photography shop, ZoiShop, all weekend long. For print purchases, I'm offering 40 percent off with the coupon code: FPOE11. Beside the 40 percent off prints, I will also be offering 10 percent off paper goods, stocking stuffers, and tree ornaments, with the promo code: 10PERCENT. Plus, I'll be offering free domestic and international shipping for orders over $100 USD, with code: SHIPPING100.

Do you plan on shopping from small businesses this year?

If you're not, I truly encourage you to support small businesses on Etsy. You might be surprised at the amazing handmade creations you'll find outside of common retailers.

Fitness Boost: Pilates Fit

Working out is something that I do to make myself not only feel stronger, but to stay motivated. I think for anyone, whether you're a crafter, a teacher or a lawyer, it's one of the most important things you need to do in your life. For this reason, I decided to have a fitness boost segment on my blog every Tuesday where I'll share some of my favorite exercise workouts as well as healthy living finds from around the web.

I went to find one of my favorite exercise videos to download, Pilates Fit with trainer Tandy Gutierrez, when I came across the entire workout for free on the Exercise TV website, which I had to share. If you're looking for a mellow workout that still gets you results and teaches you the right technique I would highly recommend this video. Especially during the often times stressful holiday season coming up.

After your workout try one of my favorite smoothie recipes. To make it blend half a cup of blueberries, half a cup of strawberries, one cup of milk, and three tablespoons of a sweetened mint cocoa, for a delicious smoothie.

Dead Winter Carpenters and Nevada

What did you do this weekend loves?

On Friday, I got the opportunity to photograph the Dead Winter Carpenters at a local bar here in South Lake Tahoe for Action, the entertainment section of the Tahoe Daily Tribune where Joe works as their sports editor. Although, the venue had unbelievably horrible dark, and not to mention had red lighting, I was able to get some good shots that I converted to black and white.

I really enjoyed photographing for a publication again, as well as the band, which has a rare and unique sound filled with electric violin and standing bass rhythms. I'm not sure how usable the color images will be for the paper, but hopefully things will work out, and they'll be able to work with the red.

On another note, the weather has been beautiful lately, so Joe and I went for a walk in Nevada near the lake's shore. We were surprised by a rare sight of rocks and snowy mountains, which photographed wonderfully.

Hope you had a lovely weekend too.

Need Your Help!

This is my third time submitting my photography to Heartsy, probably the biggest crafter's Groupon type site on the Web, and could really use your help getting my photography featured at a great discounted price!

Since it works through a voting process, I could really use your help! I have a little less than five hours left for people to vote for my deal! I would really appreciate anyone who has a few seconds to spare to click the image below and vote "Yes, definitely".

For those of you that don't know how Heartsy works. You submit your craft for a voting process for 72 hours. After the voting time is done, the people at Heartsy go through each submission and decide if they want to feature you as one of their artisans. They contact you if they do, and you work out a deal with them. Lets say your deal is that you want people to purchase a coupon for your shop for $9 through their site, but it'll be $20 worth of merchandise at your Etsy shop. Deals range in differences, and can often be great for the buyer and bad for the shop, but part of it all is negotiating to get the best deal possible for both sides.

Thanks in advance loves, and more to come about my weekend, and hopefully hear some of what you did this weekend.
